nope. didn't work. The place were the captcha thing came up was just a unloaded gif. oh well.

anyone well versed in mysql or other web databasey stuff?
i did a bit of non-web-related SQL years ago, but i'm very rusty
i need to dynamically generate (well, grab it from a list) the text for a pop-up window based on the link clicked, or a value passed to the query
is that do-able?

Yeah, that seems like a quite basic thing. You need some javascript to make request to server and fetch contents of pop-up. And in the server there has to be some script performing sql-query and returning results.
