Anna Institution is a public university in Tamil Nadu, India that is run by the state.Chennai is home to the main campus. It was created on September 4, 1978, and is named after former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. N. Annadurai.
The former Anna University became an affiliating university in 2001, according to the Anna University Amendment Act of 2001, which included all of Tamil Nadu's engineering institutes. Six government engineering colleges, three government-aided private institutions, and 426 self-financing institutes were featured on the list.The university was separated into six constituent universities on 1 February 2007 as a consequence of a decision by the Tamil Nadu government.
