Why does the paint in my house look weird?

Recently you went for a home renovation and probably painted the whole house afresh. But something somewhere isn't right. Especially when it comes to the paint colour. Well, you are very glad and happy that you chose your favourite shade for your house. Initially, everything looked nice, and you were of course happy with the renovation. But after a day or two, you seem to feel unsettled. The space looks weird, and you are under the notion that perhaps the paint colour that you selected for your room wasn't right. Well, you guessed it right! Sometimes a wrong paint shade can unsettle the entire décor.

What can be wrong in the paint colour that you selected?

If you have hired the best men in Auckland like painters from Kowhai Plastering, for the task, there is surely nothing wrong in the painting job. They are really the best people in town for this task and have got oodles of experience in painting the places perfectly. Then what went wrong? The paint colour selection!

  • You selected a wrong undertone — Sometimes you take pains to select the right overtone for the walls. But there is a slight mistake in choosing a perfect undertone. If these two do not gel well, the colour goes all bonkers. If you want to know in detail, an undertone is a secondary shade that you choose after selecting a primary colour or overtone for your house. It is because of this undertone that grey blends with a lighter shade and becomes pale blue or green turns into a light yellow shade after some blending. This undertone has the power to make a dull beige appear gorgeous and a lovely red look like an eyesore.
  • You selected a very bright colour for your room — There are chances that the room for which you selected the paint is quite compact, and the shade that you preferred was pretty dark or bright. Well, this destroyed everything. Or maybe you already get a nice natural light in this room and the dark shade is contrasting drastically with it thereby disrupting the mood of this space.
  • An extremely pale shade of paint— Even if you choose a very light shade for a room, it makes the space appear plain and dull. Like, if you have a large open floor plan and you are using a stark white, or a white-washed pastel shade for the entire room, obviously your place would look weird and appear dull. In short, such a space would lack life.
  • The colour doesn’t match the décor — Sometimes the paint colour that you choose is lovely. But unless it complements with the existing furniture and décor items in the room, all the loveliness goes in vain. Obviously, the entire interior design falls flat in such a situation.

Now that you know what is wrong with your paint shade, you can always consider rectifying your mistake. You just require some brainstorming discussions with your painter and designer and a little touch-up in the painting job. And voila! You shall see a happy space full of warmth and glow that would make you smile ear to ear!
