Broken or misaligned teeth sometimes make us so complex that we no longer dare to smile. Composites, whitening, implants, braces ... dental surgery and orthodontics offer many solutions to help us find beautiful teeth.
Broken, worn teeth: two techniques to repair them
If your teeth are broken, worn (irregular surface) or if their shape bothers us (for example a tooth that is too short), two techniques are possible through cosmetic dental surgeon in Lahore.
Composites
These are pieces of resin that mimic the color and appearance of teeth. They are placed on (or in) the teeth by bonding. A composite has a tendency to stain (avoid coloring products like tobacco, coffee or tea) or deteriorate, but it lasts at least ten years and is easily removed or changed.
Facets
These are small, custom-molded ceramic plates that cover the visible face of the teeth. They mimic enamel very well and shine more than composites. And they are more resistant.
"The downside is that in 95% of cases they involve preparing the teeth by filing them, which represents tissue damage," says our dental cosmetic doctor. This should only be considered if you are very complexed or if repair with a composite is not possible.
How many sessions and at what price?
To install a composite, one session may suffice: the dentist molds it directly onto the tooth. For veneers, you must first place provisions and then make impressions before placing the final veneers. Count 3 to 4 appointments.
The price depends upon the complexity of dental work for a tooth (depending on the quality of the veneer and the prosthetist), much less for composites (the price depends mainly on the time spent by the dentist).
These techniques can also correct spaced or overlapping teeth. But you don't veneer if your upper teeth overlap your lower teeth or if you grind your teeth.
Stained or yellowed teeth: abrasion and bleaching
A deterioration of the original color of the teeth can be the cause of complexes.
Stop stains!
In the event of stains caused by dyes such as coffee, tea or tobacco, descaling followed by polishing may be sufficient. On the other hand, in the event of white or brown spots due to an excess of fluoride, the dentist will instead resort to micro-abrasion: he applies a paste based on pumice and hydrochloric acid then rubs with a brush.
If the stain is deep, he uses macro-abrasion: he digs the tooth slightly to remove the stain, then fills it with a composite. Bleaching has no effect on these stains caused by excess fluoride.
For whiter teeth
For results beyond a few weeks, we prefer whitening at the dentist to kits sold in pharmacies. It offers an immediate result, which lasts a few months.
Another more durable option is “outpatient” bleaching: for ten to fifteen days, a custom-made splint is worn at night, after applying a gel. But never expect dazzling white: Finally, beware of sensitive teeth and coloring products (coffee, tea, tobacco, beetroot, red wine, etc.), to be avoided during the treatment!
